Southern California-based Turner's Outdoorsman will take over the space on Blackstone and Bullard and plans to hire Herb Bauer hunting and fishing employees.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The owners of a long-time Valley sporting goods store announced Tuesday, they are closing its doors.

Herb Bauer has been a Fresno staple for 68 years. The current owners, Barry Bauer and his brother and sister, Reggie and Sheryle, say they plan to retire. They are handing over the reins to Southern California-based, Turner's Outdoorsman.

The company will take over the space at Blackstone and Escalon Avenues and plans to hire many of the former Herb Bauer hunting and fishing employees who would like to stay on the job.

The Bauers say they are planning a special retirement sale at the store on Thursday.
