Man sent to hospital in critical condition after being shot several times in West Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The search is on for a suspect after a drive-by shooting in Fresno sent a man to the hospital. It happened around eleven last night in the area of Shields near Parkway.

Police said a man in his 20's was riding his bike eastbound on Shields when a vehicle passed by, made a u-turn, and came back toward the rider. Someone inside fired several gun shots hitting the victim.

The man on the bike was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he was taken into surgery.

Lt. Steve Card, with the Fresno Police Department, said, "We are working on leads, on a possible suspect description, and vehicle description. We're not gonna release that at this time because we want to make sure we have accurate information before we proceed."

Police collected shell casings at the scene. They are also speaking with witnesses in the area to develop more information about a possible suspect.

The victim was last reported in critical condition.
