New businesses popping up in Northeast Fresno
A much anticipated Trader Joe's store opened Friday in Northeast Fresno, signaling a shift in businesses heading north to reach more customers.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The new Trader Joe's in Northeast Fresno opened with an island flavor and a lot of excitement. Longtime customers checked out the new store shopping for organic and natural products.

The store relocated from Blackstone to the Park Crossing Shopping Center off Friant and Fresno. They now have an additional 4,500 square feet and more employees to handle the growth.

They are not the only new store in the center, work is underway on Chinese food restaurant, Little Fat Dumpling. A chef will roll the dumplings in front of customers, they hope to open by next week.

They also are opening Nami Japanese cuisine near Sportsman Warehouse. The idea is to have teppanyaki as well as a revolving sushi bar for customers.

"I came from Los Angeles where there were a lot of sushi bars and then I saw there was no revolving sushi bar here," Yaohan Murong said.

Nami is expected to open in a few months. Both restaurants will serve alcohol.

Local health food store, Raw Earth Juicery, is expanding in the Valley and adding a second location at Park Crossing.

"In this shopping center, we get all the traffic off 41 and Friant. There's over 400,000 cars that go through this intersection every day. So it's going to put us on the map," Rick Rosales said.

Raw Earth Juicery sells everything from handmade almond milk to cold-pressed juice and hopes to be open this summer.

Developers tell us they're working on additional 6,500 square feet of space. They say offices, restaurants, and services could one day go into this next phase.
