Local business Margaritas and Masterpieces, known for its Latin flair, is growing
Margaritas and Masterpieces is not your average paint group.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Margaritas and Masterpieces is not your average paint group.

"I may not necessarily want to paint a tree and a landscape, but, yeah, I'll go paint Selena, but that sounds fun, so it's almost giving a whole new community a whole new experience," said Albee Sanchez, Margaritas and Masterpieces.

Sanchez said the response to Latin art has exploded. People have turned out for Selena nights to socialize and share in the experience. Attendees also sketch the art before they paint, so even those who aren't artistic can leave with great pictures.

The classes started in 2016 in Fresno and have grown.

"We started in Fresno. We started venturing out to Tulare, Visalia, Madera, Hanford. We've gone as far north as Half Moon Bay and Livermore," said Sanchez.

People pay about $30 for the class and music. Margaritas and Masterpieces partners up with local businesses, who host the event.

It's been positive for Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Fresno, as customers help boost sales.

Analilia DeAlba, with Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant, said, "We're going to make a difference in Downtown. So people can have something to do. Let's go to Los Panchos not just for the food and drink, but they are going to have this event or the painting class."

They hope to offer weekly classes at their spot on Fulton Street in the future.

Margaritas and Masterpieces has started to think out of the box, offering a mystery location. They recently had one at the security bank building.

Sanchez said, "So these mystery locations are designed to take people into places they couldn't normally get into and also to give them history about Fresno."

Sanchez said the best part of these pop-up art groups, is bringing people together for one night to connect.

Margaritas and Masterpieces will hold its first bilingual art class Friday night in Madera. They hope to offer more unique experiences in the future in the Valley.
