Commercial fire in Sanger nearly destroys family business
Fire investigators are calling the blaze at Academy Avenue and 9th Street suspicious.

Shattered glass and charred debris are what employees at Neri's Auto Sales arrived to Sunday morning. The family business for almost a decade, gutted by flames.

The owner's son and employee, Martin Neri, says family members believe this was a break in turned arson. Though firefighters aren't ruling arson out, they say at this point in the investigation they can only rule it as suspicious in nature.

Sanger Fire Chief Greg Tarascou says the investigation could take weeks based on surveillance video they are trying to obtain.

"There were cameras that weren't working at the time but we're trying to do a workaround to make sure that information wasn't loaded onto the Cloud," Tarascou said.

The fire broke out at around 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning. He attributes a neighbor's 911 call to the quick response and attack by several agencies.

Still trying to determine a point of origin, Chief Tarascou says this investigation could take weeks.

Despite the hardship, the Neri family remains optimistic. The family hopes to reopen by the end of the week.
