FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a drive-by shooting in Southeast Fresno and the person, or people, responsible are on the run.

Fresno Police received a shot spotter call around 11:45 Sunday night. Then, moments later, a 911 call came in that a driver was headed to the hospital with two gunshot victims.

One man died at the hospital and the other at last check with officers was stable, but his condition is unknown. Police said it appears the suspects, or suspect, and victims were both in different vehicles.

Officers said shot spotter alerted them that about 14 rounds were fired. And the vehicle was hit multiple times on the driver side.

Authorities said the four people in the car that was hit appear to be gang members and are well known to law enforcement but the motive is still unclear.

Lt. Carl McKnight with the Fresno Police Department said, "We don't have any witnesses to it, but the crime scene has shell casings up and down Cedar Avenue. So it appears they were driving both vehicles when the suspect's vehicle was shooting at the victim's vehicle."

A portion of Cedar was shut down Sunday night as officers investigated. The search is still on for the person responsible for this shooting.

There were no other witnesses besides those who were in the car. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno Police Department.
