Fireworks blamed for grass fire that burned 5-acres in Visalia

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A plot of land in Visalia is black after a five-acre grass fire burned through it on Doe Avenue and Shirk Street.

Firefighters say three kids were lighting Safe and Sane Fireworks in a large field, when the flames sparked, gusty winds picked up, causing the fire to spread quickly.

There was some damage to nearby property. It is not clear if the juveniles will face any charges.
