FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police have arrested five people who may be involved in a series of armed robberies around the City of Fresno.

Officers tried to stop the suspects' car last night in the area of Yale and Glenn in Central Fresno on Tuesday night. Authorities say the vehicle matched the description given for three armed robberies that had happened earlier in the night.

Police say when they tried to arrest the suspects, they all ran away. Police were able to catch four of them, but they believe a fifth person got away and tried to carjack another victim before being caught.

"We believe it was the same crew, again because the suspects in the armed robbery, as well as the carjacking -- all the suspects match the same description. The vehicle used in the getaway was the same vehicle given in all three cases. So we have three violent crime cases that happened within 30-40 minutes of each other," said Sgt. Justin Hoagland, Fresno Police Department.

Fresno Police have four men, and one juvenile male in custody Tuesday morning. They also were able to recover the gun that they say was used by the suspects.
