Arrest made for home invasion of Fresno WW2 vet

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Police announced an arrest in the home invasion robbery of a World War 2 veteran.

The wounds on Bob Christiansen's arm are healing but the emotional ones he says may last forever.

"They prey on people that have tragedies," veteran Bob Christiansen said. "I'm sorry, I can't.">

Tuesday afternoon, while mourning the loss of his wife of 65 years, the WW2 veteran was blindsided.

"I say, 'Who are you?'" he said.

"You know me, you haven't seen me in a long time?" the robber said according to Christiansen.

"And he goes on and on and I said I don't know you."

Christiansen says a young man and woman made their way into his northeast Fresno home. Once inside, one of the suspects pretending to use the restroom was stealing valuables.

"I don't see how the suspect knew the victim because they identified the victim by his first name when they got to the home," Lt. Joe Gomez with the Fresno Police Department said.

Less than 72 hours later, an arrest.

Danny Miller, 20, of Fresno was already on probation and is now in custody suspected of burglarizing Christiansen's home.

Detectives arrested Miller when he arrived at the police station for drug testing. As for the accomplice, police are still looking for the second suspect.

"She may be in her late teens, Hispanic female, not very tall maybe about 5-foot-2 and she was noticeably pregnant," Gomez said.

The 89-year-old says he's still accounting what was taken from his home.

"As far as I know, money and jewelry that they can get money," he said. "Quick with the jewelry."

What they also took was his sense of security.

"Back in my day we didn't even lock doors when I was a kid," he said. "Now you've got to have burglar alarms you got to have everything."
