Arson fires break out at two Clovis playgrounds just hours apart
The worst of them happened at an apartment complex just off Sunnyside and Scott, and it was still smoldering on Sunday morning.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A pair of playground fires just a couple hours apart on Saturday have Clovis firefighters looking for arsonists.

The worst of them happened at an apartment complex just off Sunnyside and Scott, and it was still smoldering on Sunday morning. Neighbors told us they saw the wood chips and plastic play structure burning in the middle of the afternoon.

They told us another fire destroyed a building right next to the playground a couple months ago. They didn't want to be identified because they worried the suspects might target their homes.

"I don't know what they're doing, but they're just ruining it for everybody else," they said. "We have a lot of kids that play here. There's a lot of people in wheelchairs and stuff like that in this apartment complex, a lot of animals, and it just upsets our safety."

Less than two hours before the apartment playground fire, someone set another fire at a playground in Bicentennial Park, less than a mile north of the apartments.
