Authorities warning of phone scam in Tulare County
On Friday, a family in the town of Goshen was coaxed by a caller into believing their relative was detained in a Mexico jail and needed to send bail money to set him free.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Tulare County sheriff's deputies are warning the public of a possible phone scam.

On Friday, a family in the town of Goshen was coaxed by a caller into believing their relative was detained in a Mexico jail and needed to send bail money to set him free.

After asking for nearly $1,000, the family caught on and reported the call to investigators.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Department is now encouraging the public to use caution when receiving calls from strangers that are requesting money.
