CORNELIUS, N.C. (KFSN) -- A 16-year-old boy is facing charges after police say he shot and wounded an officer in Cornelius, N.C. The suspect was led away from his home in handcuffs this weekend.

Authorities say the officer was responding to a domestic disturbance call when the teen opened fire. They believe the boy was also struck when police fired back, but he was wearing a bulletproof vest and was not seriously hurt.

The officer was shot in the stomach and is expected to make a full recovery.
