Caught on camera: Vandal hits Clovis holiday decorations
A vandal is already smashing holiday spirit. Now police and the victims are hoping the public can help solve the crime.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A vandal is already smashing holiday spirit. Now police and the victims are hoping the public can help solve the crime.

Clovis police posted a picture from the video on Facebook after the family called them, outraged about the vandalism.

They admit the decorations are up a bit early this year but say no one has the right to destroy their property.

In the video an SUV pulls up to the home. It happened around 11:30 Sunday night. You see someone get out of the back seat and pull of a quick attack on the holiday decorations.

The homeowner, Irene, says she and her husband didn't know about the damage until Monday morning when she went to open the curtains on her from window.

"When I opened them I saw that there was something smeared on it, and I knew it was egg," she said.

That's when they switched on their surveillance system and got a good look at the vandals face as he runs up and kicks the decoration then hits their window with the egg.

The damage to the inflatable Santa Claus isn't what's most upsetting. "It's him crossing into my yard because who knows what else could happen," Irene said. "Who knows if he tries to come back and do something different."

The family installed these security cameras about a year ago, and they're glad they did. They handed the video over to police and filed a report.

A snap shot was then posted to Facebook where at least one other homeowner says she may have spotted the same vandals at her home several blocks away.

Irene says it's just unfortunate that someone has so little respect for personal property. "I basically want to tell him, you know, he's going to clean my window," she said. "And it's going to get left that way until he gets caught and he's going to scrub it."

Police are asking for anyone with information to call them.
