FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left one of its officers injured. It happened just before 11 a.m. Friday on northbound Highway 41, between Shaw and Ashlan avenues, in Northeast Fresno.

Investigators say a motorcycle officer pulled over a car to give the driver a ticket. That's when he was hit by a black Dodge Charger.

"For unknown reasons, a vehicle that was coming northbound allowed his vehicle to drift off the right shoulder, went out of control, started rolling over coming toward the officer and the vehicle. At some point in time, that vehicle made contact with our officer's motorcycle as well as our officer. As you can see, it came to rest on its top," said CHP Captain Craig Kunzler.

Traffic on northbound 41 was backed up for a while.

The CHP sergeant sustained minor injuries. The driver of the black Charger, Christopher Kirsch, 24, of Sanger, also suffered minor injuries.

The car that was pulled over was not affected.
