Lightning suspected in fire that burned home near Chowchilla

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Lightning is thought to be the cause of a fire near Chowchilla. The fire burned a home off Robertson Boulevard north of Highway 152 on Thursday morning.

Firefighters say several lightning strikes were seen in the area, and the weather stretched their crews thin. "It was extremely busy last night. We had a lot of fires in the foothills in Madera County from the lightning," said Matt Watson with Madera County Fire.

The homeowner and her pets were able to make it out of the home safely.
