LOWER LAKE, Calif. -- The Jerusalem Fire, raging through Lake and Napa counties, is burning in heavy vegetation and the lack of improved roads continue to hamper fire suppression efforts.

The fire still remains active and firefighters are working aggressively to stop the forward progression and sustain perimeter control. Erratic winds are contributing to the increased fire activity and promoting high intensity uphill runs with short range spotting.

The fire has grown to 24,000 acres and is now 50 percent contained. Over 2,100 firefighters are working the fire.

Cal Fire is urging residents to stay vigilant and adhere to any changes in evacuations and road closures.
