Deer Fire in Kern County scorches 2,000 acres and threatens several structures
In Kern County, a wildfire dubbed the Deer Fire is threatening structures and burning almost 2,000 acres of grass.

KERN COUNTY (KFSN) -- In Kern County, a wildfire dubbed the Deer Fire is threatening structures and burning almost 2,000 acres of grass.

It's burning outside the city of Arvin, about 30 minutes southeast of Bakersfield close to an area with a high concentration of dead and dying trees.

Right now there're evacuations for about 300 threatened structures.

The flames are creeping toward Bear Valley Springs-- a community of about 5,000 people just off Highway 58.

The community of Hart Flat is also under protection by fire crews.
