FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities in the South Valley say a man was stabbed in the neck during an unprovoked attack on Saturday.

Tulare County sheriff's deputies arrested Michael Owens of Strathmore for the crime. They say the 37-year-old was being loud and belligerent at a family function in the 27700 block of Highway 190 near Porterville, so another man asked him to calm down.

That's when deputies say Owens hit the victim in the neck with some sort of sharp object. The 49-year-old was flown to an area hospital with an open puncture wound and is listed in guarded condition.
