FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A South Valley community is working to keep a memorial wall honoring Vietnam veterans.

Friday, Fresno assemblyman Jim Patterson joined members of the Dinuba Vietnam Veterans Memorial. He presented them with a check donation of $2,000.

The money will help cover the remaining $90,000 cost of bringing the monument to the Central Valley.

"When I saw that the wall was short of money necessary to keep the wall here it really touched my heart," Patterson said. "And so we're giving a donation and encouraging lots of other people from all walks of life. It is a remarkable thing to have this wall here. We want to keep it here."

The wall is the only one of it's kind and with a permanent home in California.

It has 58,000 names of all the Americans who died fighting in the war.
