DUI driver hits police car, then runs, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspected drunk driver is in jail after being accused in two different crashes -- including one involving a Fresno Police car.

A woman was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning in the area of Brentwood and South Kenmore in Fresno County. Authorities say about 20 minutes earlier she hit a police car that was stopped on Cedar near Clinton in Central Fresno. Police said the woman didn't stop, so another officer followed her into Fresno County. That's where she hit a second car, that was parked on the street, and dragged it nearly 25 feet onto a home's driveway.

"Her actions are causing her... to potentially have charges just stacked up on her when she probably could have just gotten out of it with a DUI and being the party at fault in the original crash," said Ron Grimm, Fresno Police Department.

No injuries were reported, but police say the suspect's car is totaled after the second crash.
