Duplex fire displaces 10 people in Northeast Fresno
Several people are displaced after a fire destroyed two duplexes in Northeast Fresno.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Several people are displaced after a fire destroyed two duplexes in Northeast Fresno.

The flames broke out around 3:30 this afternoon at an apartment complex near Bullard and Highway 41. First responders say the fire started on the patio of one unit, and quickly spread to the one next door.

Crews were able to put out the flames in about fifteen minutes thanks to smoke detectors inside the duplexes. "It looks as if because we had early notification, we were able to get a quick handle on this fire," said Rich Cabral, Battalion Chief, Fresno Fire Department.

But the damage to the units was still extensive, forcing 10 people to look for a new place to stay.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
