FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- About 100 people crowded Eaton Plaza in Downtown Fresno Tuesday night to raise awareness about what they call the unfair treatment of minorities in America.
The group Faith in Community organized the prayer vigil. Pastors and leaders from other faiths at the event say white Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson would have faced criminal charges if Mike Brown was not black.
Parents, children and teenagers were there to express their anger about the decision not to indict Wilson. One teen said she hopes peaceful protests send a loud message about race relations in our country. "I just feel proud because we are peaceful protesting and I feel like that's more what I believe, being peaceful not causing violence. I wasn't taught and raised that way," said Jaylin White.
Faith in Community is holding another event next Thursday to continue the conversation about equality for everyone and the public is invited to attend.
