EXETER, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police in Exeter are looking for the man they say stole from a church and attempted to burglarize a school nearby.

It happened early Tuesday morning near downtown Exeter. Members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church said someone stole at least $100 from their donation box inside and ripped the wood casing off of their tabernacle.

While police were investigating at the church, they got called to Rocky Hill School. There they said a man in his early 20's climbed through an open window.

They don't believe he took anything, and officers saw him run from the scene.

"At this point in time we believe that the person acted alone, and we do believe at this point that they are connected, that the same person is involved in both," said Sgt. Brett Inglehart, Exeter Police Department.

Police will also be reviewing surveillance video from the school.
