Family of Merced man killed in accident search for clues
Josh Munoz was killed Saturday morning in a hit-and-run accident.

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- Family members search for clues after their relative was left for hours on the side of the road in a fatal hit-and-run accident.

They identified Josh Munoz as the man killed Saturday morning in Merced.

Family of the man said it was rare for Munoz, 25, to walk home, but they believe he was job hunting and was walking this road when he was hit and left for dead.

"It breaks my heart to know he was out there that long that cold, Munoz' cousin April Hernandez said crying. "He could've been somewhere warm."

When night falls the dimly lit road appears narrow and dangerous, but it's a busy street Hernandez can't understand how his body went unnoticed.

"There's no way you can go and drive down that street and not notice something is wrong," Hernandez said. "Someone, someway had to have seen something."

Authorities said a passerby found his body hours later in the afternoon. Whoever hit Hunoz took off without notifying police.

Now the family wants justice and to get the person responsible in jail. "If this was your child how would you feel if this was your family member," Munoz' aunt Mary Frances Green said.

"There's a difference between you hitting somebody and having compassion and showing remorse," Hernandez cried. "Not call for help, not call 911."

A GoFundMe account was set up by the family for funeral expenses: https://www.gofundme.com/wkchxwpw
