FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating a possible gang-related shooting in Cutler Thursday night, and the suspect is still on the loose.

A woman who says she's the cousin of the shooting victim says he had just been dropped off at his home on Avenue 404 in Cutler when he was shot by someone.

Police aren't releasing the victim's name at this point, but will say they're looking into the possibility that this shooting was gang-related. They can't say whether or not it was a drive-by or what lead up to the shooting.

In addition to the gang violence unit, the Tulare County Sheriff's Department also had their violent crimes unit and forensic crime lab on scene. They say officers from their Orosi substation responded to the scene just after 6 p.m., and found a man dead in the middle of the road on Avenue 404. Avenue 404 intersects Road 128, which is the main street that cuts through Cutler.

"We are actually at a very major thoroughfare here in Cutler at Road 128 and Avenue 404 and we're hoping if we do have any witnesses in the community that may have witnessed anything, that they'll come forward," said Tulare County Sheriff's Department Lt. Rob Schimph.

Police are following up on leads and were going door to door in the neighborhood to try and find out what led up to the shooting. They say anyone can always call anonymously with information on the shooting.
