Fire destroys a home, heavily damages another in Merced
The Merced Fire Department said eight people were displaced from two homes after a large house fire damages a second home.

The Merced Fire Department said eight people were displaced from two homes after a large house fire damages a second home.

The fire started around 5:45 p.m. on Friday on Olive Avenue near Oleander Avenue. Firefighters said when they arrived, one home was on fire, with exposure to the second home.

The first home was completely destroyed and six people were displaced. The second home was heavily damaged and two people were displaced.

The fire department said they had all of the city resources fighting the fire -- including five engines and one truck. In addition, the Merced County Fire Department send three more fire engines.
