Fire guts abandoned building in Fresno County
Fire crews are trying to figure out what caused a fire in the small community of Bowles, just southwest of Fowler, in Fresno County.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire in the small community of Bowles, just southwest of Fowler, in Fresno County.

The fire started around 3:30 a.m. Thursday and destroyed a building near Manning and Cedar avenues. Firefighters say it was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Two homeless people who were inside the abandoned building were able to escape without injuries.

A nearby SUV was also destroyed by the flames.
