Foothills resident shares frustration over address mistake

TOLLHOUSE, Calif. (KFSN) -- A foothills woman is opening up about why she says a glitch at the county clerk's office should have been avoided.

Elinore Lee Walker has lived in the foothills for more than two decades, but earlier this week she got her mail-in ballot along with this letter containing a confusing message. "The U.S. Postal Service has recently returned this address to us informing us your address is no longer considered Auberry, California. The post office now classifies your address as Shaver Lake, California," said Walker.

The Fresno County Clerk's Office sent that letter. What annoyed Walker most is her home is actually located in Tollhouse and she's received ballots addressed to the same location for years.

"I thought what seven shades of an idiot did this," said Walker.

Walker called the elections office non-stop with her concerns. "My address has been changed. Am I going to have to notify everyone I know?" added Walker.

County clerk Brandi Orth told us 18 other voters who live near her were also impacted. Orth says an employee at the office made the mistake when mailing out ballots this year. Orth says the office has resent the ballots and everyone affected should get them shortly. "This just caused a slight delay in receiving their materials," said Orth.
