FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police say a parolee tried to carjack a mother with her two young children. Officers arrested Miguel Cabrera, 27, around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the suspect stuck a gun into a woman's back and told her to get in her vehicle outside the Two Amigos Market at Cedar and Church avenues. She had just put her 2-year-old child into a car seat, but her 8-year-old son saw what was happening and ran away. The woman screamed and resisted until officers arrived.

Police caught the suspect in a nearby neighborhood. They also recovered a weapon, which turned out to be an airsoft replica gun. Cabrera was booked into the Fresno County Jail for attempted carjacking, kidnapping and robbery.
