FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are working to help people prevent crimes in their own community.

The department hosted a presentation at its annex in Downtown Fresno on Saturday. The goal is to get more residents involved in Neighborhood Watch programs. Officers say the program decreases graffiti, burglaries and other crimes by up to 80 percent.

Earlier this year, Chief Jerry Dyer sent out letters in more than 130,000 utility bills, inviting people to attend these Neighborhood Watch presentations. This was the third and final one of the summer.
