FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police have arrested two men for a murder that happened early Tuesday morning. A Fresno police officer who heard gunfire from the city's latest murder - may have helped solve the crime.

The victim, 29-year-old Von Correia, was shot and killed near Maple and Shields just after midnight. An officer who was in the area at the time saw the car that was possibly involved and pulled it over on Highway 168. The victim's father says witnesses told him -- his son was buying marijuana when the suspects came up.

The Victim's father, Von Correia, said, "They were basically going to, I think, rob everybody there and he happened to take off running because it wasn't really his area. He lived across the street. He just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Detectives say the suspects ditched a gun, but it was later found. The weapon is now being tested to see if it's the same one used in the murder.
