Fresno Police are investigating an early morning stabbing

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman was stabbed while being robbed by two men, police say.

Officers were called to Mariposa Street near Illinois Avenue in Central Fresno around 2 a.m. Thursday morning. A woman says she was approached by two men who tried to take her backpack. When she refused to let go, one of the men stabbed her.

She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
