FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two men were booked into jail after leading Fresno police on a chase over a stolen truck. Officers spotted the green Chevy truck near Parkway Drive and White Avenue on Friday night with an obstructed license plate. Police tried to pull the driver over, but he took off.
A chopper followed the truck to McKinley and Marks avenues, where the men crashed in an apartment complex carport before running away. Police say the air support was key in making the arrests.
"The helicopter was able to keep a visual on both the passenger and the driver of the car. They observed the passenger take off running after he jumped the wall and led officers to his exact location," said Sgt. Brian Phillips with the Fresno Police Department.
A K9 unit led police to the driver. Both he and the passenger face a host of charges including hit-and-run and possessing a stolen vehicle.
