Fresno Police have heavy presence at the Big Fresno Fair
Fresno Police and security continue to keep a heavy presence at the fairgrounds.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A video of a fight in the middle of the Big Fresno Fair is going viral. As Fresno Police and security continue to keep a heavy presence at the fairgrounds.

The Big Fresno Fair is a landmark known for entertaining people of all ages. But it's all fun and games, until someone gets hurt. A viral video on the internet shows a fight, Saturday, in the middle of the carnival. Within minutes, police said, these fairgoers were kicked out.

"They'll lose their privilege to the Big Fresno Fair, we have a zero tolerance policy to that kind of activity," said Sgt. Dave Gibeault of the Fresno Police Department.

The concern for safety starts at the entrances where fairgoers are checked with metal detectors. Inside the grounds, there are officers at every corner, including undercover cops in plain clothes.

"When you look at our attendance and the ratio of officers we have on duty at any given time it is the safest place you can be in Fresno," said Laurie King of the Big Fresno Fair.

Every year roughly 600,000 people come through the gates during the twelve day run. Police say they carefully plan their schedules according to those numbers.

"On any given night you can say there's anywhere from thirty to seventy uniformed police officers on the fairgrounds assigned to my unit," said Gibeault.

Even outside the perimeter of the park, units are on patrol. Just Saturday night, gang enforcement teams confiscated three weapons being illegally used, just blocks from main entrance. Police making sure this viral video -- is about as rough as it gets at the Big Fresno Fair.
