FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police say one of their officers saved the life of a choking baby this weekend.
Roland Rendon was on patrol Saturday night when he heard a radio call for a choking child on Millbrook near Hammond. He got there one minute later and saw the parents holding the unconscious 1-year-old boy.
Officer Rendon could feel an object lodged deep in the baby's throat. He used a series of finger sweeps and back blows, and soon a piece of hard candy came flying out of the baby's mouth. The little boy immediately started crying and breathing on his own.
Officer Rendon left the child with a junior police sticky badge for being so brave.
