FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A herd of future farmers roamed the Fresno State campus this weekend.

The Jordan College is hosting a statewide Future Farmers of America conference, with about 6,000 high school Ag students and teachers.

"Fresno State's very active in FFA," Elissa Melchior said. "It's a big part of our community, especially because it's a big agricultural school. So, this is a huge conference for the state of California. A lot of students come here, this is the stepping stone to finals for them.

A lot of the kids got a good look at some cows, but the main event was light horse judging.

So, the future farmers learned how to evaluate a horse's form as it relates to its function, and the guests will get tours of the 1,000-acre Ag Lab.
