Gas selling for under $3 at some stations
There is good news at the gas pump. Drivers across the country are paying the cheapest prices at the pump since 2010.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- There is good news at the gas pump. Drivers across the country are paying the cheapest prices at the pump since 2010, and AAA says they may continue to drop through the end of the year.

According to AAA, here is what drivers are paying on average for a gallon of regular unleaded in the Valley:

- Fresno: $3.30

- Merced: $3.37

- Visalia: $3.29

And some gas stations are selling it for under $3.00.

People packed into the Arco station on Blackstone and Bullard once they got a good look at the cash price for a gallon of regular -- $2.99.

"We were just driving over there and saw $3.09 and just kept going until we found the magic 2 number. It makes you feel better when you fill up with the 2," said Ian Roth of Fresno.

"I was like, 'Oh my gosh I'm going to go here right now,'" said Felicia Hernandez of Fresno.

Gas Buddy reports the average U.S. price for a gallon of gas is $3.03. It hasn't been that low since December 2010.

"During the summer it took about $40, $45 to fill it up and right now it's taking $30, $35, so it's a lot cheaper almost $10 cheaper, and I commute to Fresno for work so it's definitely worth it," said Robert Gilman of Fresno.

"Never thought it would come down under $3.00 but yes it is coming pretty quick," said Baljit Awal, owner of the Arco station.

In fact, Atwal suspects prices could dip even lower by years end and maybe even $2.79

"With crude oil prices dropping hopefully next month, before the holidays, maybe middle of December," said Atwal.

Atwal says the cheap prices are good for his business. Many are hoping gas prices stay in this downward trend.
