Hanford Police open fire on robbery suspect
Hanford police continue to investigate an early morning attempted robbery that turned into an officer-involved shooting and chase.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hanford police continue to investigate an early morning attempted robbery that turned into an officer-involved shooting and chase.

Police said around 5 a.m. on Thursday, a woman called saying someone was trying to break into her home. When police arrived, they saw a man, who appeared to have a gun, the man then ran to a car. Shots were exchanged between police and the suspect, before the man fled the scene. Officers said they caught up with the suspect at 6th Street and 11th Avenue. They said they hit the suspect's car to prevent them from driving off.

34-year-old Chauncey Walton and 35-year-old Jennifer Beltran were arrested. Walton was treated for a bullet graze wound. Police also found the gun, but it was an air soft weapon designed to look like a real handgun. The suspects are facing multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and threatening a police officer.
