Head-on crash sends Atwater police officer to hospital

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An Atwater police officer is recovering after a head-on crash Saturday night.

The collision happened on Atwater Boulevard near Shaffer Road in Atwater just before 8 p.m. The California Highway Patrol says a woman with four passengers in her car tried to make a left turn, but pulled directly into the path of a patrol car.

The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two young children in the other vehicle also suffered minor injuries, but family members chose to get their own medical treatment.
