FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two apartments are in major need of repairs following an overnight fire in Central Fresno.
The fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. Thursday inside an apartment near Blackstone and Griffith. Authorities believe the fire started when someone went to the store and left hot oil on the stove.
"The occupant was preparing to do some frying of some food and accidentally left the burner on and left the apartment to pick up something at the corner market. When the occupant returned, there was a lot of smoke and the kitchen was on fire," said Casey Clark, Fresno Fire Department.
A total of two units were damaged, but there are no reports of any injuries.
