House fire near Woodward Park leaves one dead
Firefighters spotted a small fire in the back of the home just west of Woodward Park along West Brier Circle near Audubon Drive.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- One person died in a fire at a northwest Fresno home Sunday morning.

Firefighters spotted a small fire in the back of the home just west of Woodward Park, along West Brier Circle near Audubon Drive. They started watering it down from the outside and cleared out two people.

Once they started to get it under a control, a second unit came to go inside.

"Once they got here, they got in there. It was a fairly quick response," Capt. Chad Tucker with the Fresno Fire Department said. "They did a good job knocking the fire down, but unfortunately we had the circumstances of finding the one fatality in the bedroom."

Firefighters are investigating what caused the fire and how the victim died, but they don't have a whole lot of information yet.

They confined the fire to the bedroom, a hallway and part of the kitchen.
