When shooting erupted early this morning at a Florida State University library, students ran for safety, dove behind book shelves, barricaded doors and took to social media.

Three students were injured and the suspect was fatally shot by police. No details about the suspect, including whether or not the shooter was a student at the school, have been released.

The gunfire began during an overnight cram session in Strozier Library. Students heard about six gunshots from within the building shortly after midnight and ran for hiding spots, according to the Associated Press.

Accounts soon began emerging from the library on social media. Here are some of the most harrowing images:

Instagram user kathrynlackey368, who shared the above photo collage, wrote the following caption: Tonight has by far been one of the scariest nights of my life. I was doing work at a computer on the first floor of strozier when people just started running my direction. I took out my headphones and heard them yelling that there was a gunman coming. My first thought was to hide under my desk but then a staff member yelled out, "everybody upstairs. Leave everything." So we all started running up the staircase and hiding between the bookshelves. Several students took action and flipped tables to barricade the exits and also the elevator. In the top picture you'll see how they decided to tell us to come down to the first floor before the swat team had even cleared it. They eventually evacuated us all to Bellamy. I've heard some bad things about our student body president (the guy in the bottom right) but he came to talk to us and was really kind and helpful. I appreciate that a lot. I'm okay, but keep your fingers crossed for those in the hospital! #fsu #floridastate #strozierlibrary #strozier
