Kings River closed for recreation due to drought
Tulare County Parks and Recreation has closed the river to recreation indefinitely because of the ongoing drought.

FRESNO COUNTY, California (KFSN) -- People in Tulare County and visitors looking to boat or water-ski on the Kings River won't be able to because of extremely low water levels.

Tulare County Parks and Recreation has closed the river to recreation indefinitely because of the ongoing drought.

Usually the Memorial Day weekend marks the start of the busy summer season on the Kings, but this year families are being urged to seek activities away from the water as a public safety measure.

Tulare County Parks and Recreation says the river will remain closed until water levels reach a certain point, but right now it doesn't know when more water will be released from Pine Flat Dam.
