MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- The attack was caught on camera-- it shows two men talking then one suddenly punching the other to the ground and brutally kicking him in the head.
"It was a very outrageous act-- as soon as we saw the video we made this a priority. This is somebody that's dangerous and we need to get him off the street," said Sgt. Johnnie Smith, Madera Police Detective.
The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Anthony Montez.
Madera police said Montez and the victim in this video pull into the 76 gas station on Tozer and Yosemite after a traffic collision back in September. They said the victim tried to call the police after the collision, but Montez quickly became agitated and attacked him to the ground.
Detective Smith said along with being such an explosive violent act, Montez also has a background of mixed martial arts.
"Not that mixed martial artists are-- most are disciplined people. He was one of the few who used this training and ability to commit a criminal act."
Smith said the victim was rushed to a Madera hospital after the attack, but since has been released.
Police are still searching for Montez, and said they're receiving more information from Facebook users after posting the video. They now want to speak to this man in the video seen getting into the passenger seat of Montez's car who they said is a witness.
"He may have information as to the suspect's state of mind, what he said prior to this, what he said afterward,' said Smith.
Montez is wanted for robbery, hit and run, and a felony assault. Police are currently looking into other past criminal cases involving the suspect that are still under investigation.
We also spoke to one of Montez's former employers who said he never had any problems with him, and that he even taught kids boxing at a nearby gym. He said when he heard about the attack, he just couldn't believe it.
Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call the Madera Police Department.
