Man, 66, dies in fatal crash in Madera County

FRESNO, Calif. -- A Coarsegold man has been identified as the sole victim in a deadly crash. It happened just before 2 p.m. on State Route 41 near Road 416.

The 66-year-old man drifted off the road and crashed into a tree according to CHP investigators. At this point they don't believe the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The CHP believes he couldn't get back onto the road after drifting into the hillside.

The man died at the scene from his injuries.
