MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Merced County Sheriff's Office says a man has been arrested in connection with the death of his 9-month-old son. The suspect, Andrew Sanchez, 26, was taken into custody Monday afternoon.

The baby, Maddix Ramsour, was flown from his home on Cottonwood Road near Gustine to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno back on March 5. The infant died, which prompted sheriff's officials to launch an investigation.

Sanchez told doctors that Maddix had fallen from a bed at their home, according to the sheriff's office. During their investigation, detectives say that story did not coincide with the baby's injuries. The county pathologist determined Maddix died from blunt force trauma and ruled the case a homicide.

Sanchez was booked into the Merced County Jail on a first-degree murder charge. He is being held on $1 million bail.
