Man charged with murder of former Food Network contestant and her husband

A man has been charged with the murder of former "Food Network Star" contestant Cristie Codd, 38, and her husband J.T. Codd, 45, in Buncombe County, N.C.

According to WLOS, Robert Jason Owens, 36, was charged with first degree murder of the couple on Tuesday, as well as breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering charges. Owens was also charged with the murder of the couple's unborn child.

A missing persons investigation was launched after the couple were reported missing by family on Sunday. His arrest warrant states that Owens "unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did of malice afterthought kill and murder" Cristie and J.T. Codd and their unborn child, ABC 13 reports. Owens was also accused of stealing a laptop computer, jewelry, and a handgun from the couple's home.

According to AP, Cristie Codd ran a food catering service for movie sets, and J.T. Codd worked as a key grip in the entertainment industry. However, Cristie was best known for her time as a contestant on season eight of "Food Network Star" in 2012.
