SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Orange County authorities say a man is in critical condition after jumping from a five-story building onto a moving bus and crashing through the roof.

The Orange County Register says it happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday near a freeway in Santa Ana.

California Highway Patrol Officer Tino Olivera says a man in his mid-20s apparently tried to commit suicide by leaping from the top of a five-story parking garage.

He fell about 100 feet and hit a moving county Transportation Authority bus and crashed partway through the roof.

There were no passengers on the bus.

Fire officials say the man was critically injured but was talking to paramedics as he was rescued.
