Man dead after being struck by car in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is dead after being struck by a car in Central Fresno on Friday night.

The crash happened near First Street and Dayton Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. Fresno police say a 51-year-old man was out on the traffic island, and for unknown reasons, he walked out into traffic and was hit by a car that was going southbound.

Paramedics arrived and started performing CPR immediately. The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died. His name has not been released.

The driver of the car will not be facing any charges, according to police.
