Man dead after boating accident at Edison Lake

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- UPDATE: Authorities identified the victim as 56-year-old Michael Flynn.

A man is dead after a boating accident on Edison Lake in Fresno County Saturday afternoon.

Authorities said the man was trying to reverse an aluminum fishing boat at the lake when it took on water and capsized. Several hikers and friends of the man saw what happened and pulled him out of the water.

Rescuers performed CPR on the man, described as being in his mid-50s and from the Porterville area, until authorities arrived. The man was flown to a Fresno hospital where he died.

Authorities said the man was intoxicated and was not wearing a life vest when the accident happened.
